I once noticed an option to allow programs to be run directly on the
root window? I never really had a use for it until now. However, I
have no clue how to go about this, and can't seem to find any HOWTO's on
this subject. Does anyone have a clue they can loan me? I'll just copy
it and hand it

Hey Guys,
I'm attempting to determine why I can't access RPMdrake. I have updated to
the newest RPMDrake and it worked great for 3 or 4 hours. Now I'm not sure
what I installed during those 4 hours which would cause it not to work, but
it just won't work.
Now I figured that it might be an issue

Hey All,
I use grip to make my mp3's. Is there a program for Linux
that will convert them back so I can burn cd's to work in reguler
cd players??
Thank you,

That's "DrakConf" (case sensitive) and it only runs from su or root. Typically
it is an icon o

John & Seveactually, after I re-read the message I was
responding to I realized that it's not quite as simple as I
indicated. If you're in console mode then the command
drakxconf will launch the console program that works and acts
like the old setup program. But if you're in a console window

it's likely he doesn't have the setup program on his 7.0
system. So, Seve, if setup doesn't work, then type drakxconf
instead, which will start the updated version of setup.

I'm using Mdk7.0-2. I can't get my StartUp Services to work from DrakConf. Can I run

I have a friend who uses kmail under Gnome/Enlightenment.
The apps might have do all of their nify integrated tricks, but they
won't just out-and-out refuse to come up.
(Not that I've tried them under fvwm, you understand.)

Are KDE programs compatible with IceWM or WindowMaker? I'm not all that
impressed with KDE or GNOME, and thought I'd give one of the smaller and
tighter GUI environments a try, but if apps won't run under them, then
there's no sense in switching...
