For what it is worth. I have the Hauppauge Win-TV/radio, and
it worked great in Mandrake 7.1, however I am still unable to
get it to work in 7.2. Even with all the tips I had. I don't
think it is a much a kernel issue as it is in the change from

If you installed a workstation, that is what you got, ie no servers.
If you now wish to accept telnet remote logins you must install the
telnet-server
I am using Hauppauge Wintv Go BT 878 and it works great with both picture and
sound. If you are not getting sound .. then try using the audio mixer
program and turn up the line input setting .. the Kwintv shipped with
mandrake 7.2 doesn't have sound mixer enabled in it .. try Kwintv 0.8.5 ..

get it to work with linux. Bt-848 support is in linux and it works. But
I have never had anyone else with a Bt-878 confirm that theirs is
working either.

When our kernel is compiled right (i2c, video4lin, msp3400, bt878 (in new
2.4 or bt804) as modules, you have to make folowing changest to
/etc/modules.conf:
# i2c
alias char-major-89 i2c-dev
options i2c-core i2c_debug=1
options i2c-algo-bit bit_test=1
# bttv
alias char-major-81 videodev
