If I don't put it, I can't change channels. The parameter is used by the
module tuner.o, when it is loaded. I don't think order of loading
between tuner.o and bttv.o is important, but I usually load bttv at
last.

My WinTV card worked out of the box on mandrake 7.2
on 7.1 I had to do a modprobe msp3400 to get sound to work.

Look at Hauppauge.com. Their web site explains how to setup
Win TV. As far as a TV app, I like KwinTV. There is also
xawtv
