Alsa driver). F12 (2.6.31) came up fine with sound. I still have a few
config things to do, such as get some codecs and skype, but things came

Pulse audio no longer works on this kernel for me. I reverted to
2.6.29.6-217.2.16.fc11.x86_64. I have not had a chance to really
research the problem yet. Will file a bug report if necessary during the

64-bit, somehow it died on me, and I moved to TBird. One feature of
Claws that I really liked was that I could set up folder properties so
whenever I replied while in a folder, the To: address would always be
the folder default.

running a 32-bit application on x86_64 hardware with a 32-bit OS was

that the process itself ignores the HUP signal since I sent a kill -HUP
pid to the process.
If you simply send the HUP signal, you will see that Ignore HUP will
appear in /tmp/trap.out.
The signal(1) command is probably the culprit, though the man pages are
vague.

boot successfully, you should probably reinstall GRUB just to get the
latest version from the repository.
In my case I also found that I had duplicate entries in my
/boot/grub/grub.conf, and the default boot was one of the older kernels,
but I fixed that manually.

think in terms of API you are
being very vague, but Linux complies with POSIX. Linux also supports
POSIX threads, and the current threads package was actually written by
Red Hat engineers. I hope that you now have enough pointers to get the
information you need for your presentation.

on this and other lists, most Brother printers
work well under Linux and are generally cheaper. I would avoid Lexmark,
Dell, and Canon printers. Most Epson printers work well under Linux
also. But, always check the data base before you buy just to make sure.

I don't know if it ever did on Linux, but at one time you could have
setuid and setgid on scripts. I've never investigated that since because
it is a bad thing to do..

up as root is fine, as long as the backup
procedure maintains the proper ownership and permissions. On home
systems, I personally prefer to backup my home directory myself and
manage my crontab, but that could be done just as easily by root.
