a checksum file, and netinst!
what to burn to a DVD to be able to boot from!

You downloaded the wrong files. You need the DVD .iso file to
create a bootable DVD. If

I assume you mean can't.
Just copy the rpm to a disk of some kind (floppy, cdr, flash drive, whatever)
and carry it over to the machine.
rpm -i nameofrpm

probably best to consult the documentation with the tarball but I would
guess that you would minimally need
