Hi Pat -
I've had an FELV/FIV pos kitty - Mr. Black Kitty, a real beloved cat. He
came into my life skinny and sick, but feisty. Found him in 2001, he died
in 2002, a year later.
I've also asked about mixing FELV and FIV - and I don't think there's any
definitive answer, except that both
Angels Gate on LI takes FELV
FIV--- they have waiting list though.

Thanks Gloria -- I too thought it was more of a problem for the FIV+ kitties. She seems to think that it would be a problem for the FeLV+ s but I guess it's all a matter of how you look at it. Mixing another virus into the equation is always risky. Thanks for the info. PAT[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I don't think it would be a problem for the FELV's, mainly the FIV's.

hi, pat! welcome to this wonderful group of folks. (as i keep
saying, we have to stop meeting this way, guys.)
i totally agree--i'd put an FIV+ with a FeLV+ with no hesitation
i've known FIVs who have been vaccinated against FeLV to remain FeLV-,
too, but there's lots of questions about
wanted to add that i know of an FIV+ that was mistakenly left in close
quarters with a FeLV--he tested positive for FeLV for awhile, but is
now negative and healthy as a horse.

Thanks Gloria --- that was my intial thought and feeling. Everyone has their own opinions. I just wish she'd see it our way ... PAT[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I don't think it would be a problem for the FELV's, mainly the FIV's.GloriaAt 10:54 AM 12/7/2005, you wrote:Thanks Gloria -- I too thought it
I'm getting the same response from most but she has to be comfortable with the situation. I was just curious if I was thinking along the wrong lines.TenHouseCats [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: wanted to add that i know of an FIV+ that was mistakenly left in closequarters with a FeLV--he tested positive

The general consensus,I believe is that it is OK to put a FIV+/FELV+
cat in with FELV+ cats, and the FELV+ cats should not catch the FIV from him.
The reverse is not true, you do NOT want to put a FELV+ cat in with FIV+/FELV-
cats, because the FIV+ cats ARE likely to catch the FELV from him.
Thanks for the clarification. That's what I thought. PAT[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The general consensus,I believe is that it is OK to put a FIV+/FELV+ cat in with FELV+ cats, and the FELV+ cats should not catch the FIV from him. The reverse is not true, you do NOT want to put a FELV+ cat
It's so sad that we are seeing so many cats test positive for both Felv and
FIV.
In fact, we originally had 2 FIV areas and 2 Felv areas, but we had so many
cats turn up positive for both, we have a Felv+/FIV+ area also.
(And why is it always some of the sweetest cats)
