As I mentioned previously, I tried the Reala settings and regular
White Balance unsuccessfully. Perhaps this is something to do with the issue
of trial version against full one ?
Or, the SS4000 support for Superia emulsion is eventually better then for IV
ED in Vuescan for some reason
John, I'm second to your opinion. I was wondering why people continue to
complain heavily about Nikon Scan after ver. 3.1.2 became available.
I'm not a programmer, and wouldn't mind how exactly it was written and why
they chosen particular style of programming, but rather enjoyed the software
work

So far we have been disappointed... the focus and detail are not as
sharp as we'd hoped..
The best results seem to be from if we don't use the Nikon color
management and create a raw scan using multisample 16x and I

No problems here... had terrible luck with 3.1 and 3.1.1... version 3.1.2 is
fine... the problem with the earlier versions was my dual cpu... Nikon
couldn't handle it... yes, it was a Nikon Software problem... a solution was
to reboot in single cpu mode... which i refused to do... so used VueScan.
Don't know what your hardware (PC) set up is but if you have the RAM,
definitely recommend that you move to W2K it sings... is stable... much
better memory handling... and the great thing is, with Firewire... you don't
need to reboot or refresh or any such nonsense... just turn the scanner on
Have an LS4000 ED... far more quiet than the Microtek ArrtixScan 4000T is
was using before... it does occasionally make grinding sounds... butas
mentioned less than the ArtixScan and often runs pretty silently... have no
other 35mm scanners to compare with...
