Let me throw in my 2-cents worth, here. I think scanners of many types will
be around for some time to come. It does appear to be true that many
silver-based BW negative films are being phased out, along with the papers
to print them. Transparency film will rule the commercial roost for a long
Epson makes a high quality flatbed that will certainly take you 8x10 negs.
Look on their website. It's less than $500 and has serious resolution.

He apparently doesn't realize that Tamron and Tokina make privately branded
lenses for a number of camera mfg. I've always found both brands to be very
satisfactory. Which is how they test out, also.
There's been very little traffic on the forum lately. I don't think that
there's any particular reason.

Goggle large, format, and scanner under Google's Advanced Search
function and stand back. You're talking about real money here, however.
Epson's 11x17 color scanner is almost $4K US. The Google search will return
scanners up to 50 wide.
The general consensus of this group is that (1) E-K has abandoned film
development (although I know that they have just introduced an improved
version of professional Tri-X), and that (2) ceasing production of
reloadable 35mm cameras obviously shows that they are about to go toes up.

Hammrick Software and see if they can assist you. I've never had a problem

And just where would you put Ansel Adam's highly manipulated images in this

My experience is that most digital devices focus amazingly well in low light
conditions. The Nikon Coolpix 5700 is a NOTABLE exception. It's low light
focusing capabilities are very poor. Other than that, it's a great little
camera.
The SCSI cable on my flatbed scanner is 6' long, and it's never caused me a
problem. I don't believe I've ever seen anything longer, however.

It's true that high quality silver-based BW film, when properly exposed and
developed, has a higher dynamic range than chromogenic BW. It's also true
that it is not a classic wet darkroom film, since it's normally developed
by a one-hour type color lab. However, based on my experience with a

I agree with the Edwal suggestion, although in my color lab days I used a
