I am looking to buy another printer. I currently have an HP970cxi which
has PhotoREt III technology (HP's latest three color + black) and I
think it prints great. I have not seen a side by side comparison of the
HP's vs the Epson's. I have heard a lot of talk about the Epson 1270 on
this list,
RFS3600 owners there are software and firmware updates available at the
Kodak web site.

Thank you all, for the suggestions. I will try them one at a time until
I get the results I am seeking.
Again Thanks,
Dan
Spencer,
Just out of curiosity, how fast are you able to scan the images? I am
running a AMD K6 450 with 384M of ram. I am able to prescan a roll of 36
between 10 and 11 minutes, and it is taking me just over 2 hours for the
strip to be scanned at 3600 dpi.
I too am running an AMD 450

I had heard that Kodak has been having some problems with the rfs3600

Dave,

My filmstrips sometimes look like there is still some chemicals left on
them from processing. How can I get my filmstrips squeaky clean for
scanning? This includes dust and finger prints also.

any computer lockups bad enough to cause a reboot. I
have had to uninstall and re-install once or twice though.

Dave,
I just happen to be the owner of both (well almost) of those scanners. I
have the older Dimage Scan Dual, which I was very happy
if
there is not some sort of conflict within these systems.

Just received our 3600 yesterday. (in Canada)
Once install was done I attempted my first scan.
As soon as I clicked one import/twain, the whole system
locked up. (PC)
Happened with both USB SCSI

Could some one please tell me how to measure the noise created by a film
scanner and why it is so important?
Thanks for info. Now all I need is some decent images. I will try to
create some soon.

Please let me know what you think about
the noise generated by the SS4000. I'm
curious because I returned a SS4000
because I felt it was noisy and did not
sound good mechanically. I'm happier
with the RFS 3600

I'm Sorry David but that is not true.
Sorry, but I don't have any BW negatives to test, but I do have a roll
of that Kodak BW film that uses the C-41 process. I will shoot it when
I have a chance and try it.
One thing I forgot to mention in the previous post is that so far every
frame I have scanned needed very little if any
of corrections
(more than I'm capable of correcting).
3. I'm also wondering if I should have waited for the Kodak RFS 3600 (it
is not too late to return this one)
Thanks in advance,
