Hi! I use GIMP for daily image manipulation. Unfortunately I can't say anything about color management. I did some experiments with SCARSE, which seems to give reasonable color, and some artifacts. I think that Adobe RGB may be the best choice to use with GIMP. Vuescan is nice, although it has

If you could consider an alternative windows program, you should try Picture Window. The current version is 2.5, costs around $40US and a free demonstration can be downloaded from www.dl-c.com. I have been using the Version 3.0 beta, and the final program is due for release early December. PW3.0
