I feel multiple processors are worthwhile in a power system so my last
system was built with two PIIIs rather than one Athlon.
Dual Athlons will be possible when the appropriate motherboard chipset
comes out but it's still Real Soon Now!
I used an Abit VP6 motherboard which seems to be quite

In my case the motherboard I picked (Abit SP7) has a RAID controller built
in as well as a standard IDE controller, but you can do the same thing
with a Promise plug-in.

Quite sojust carring out a "quality of service" check that's all.

Whoosh! Now *there's* a Power User! How does it work, Derek? ("he said,

I like RAID10 , i.e. mirroring and striping, because you can still use
cheap IDE RAID controllers but get similar reliability to a RAID5 array at
the cost of one more cheap drive.

I'm a little slow on the uptake, Dave but XP is what has been call
"Windows Whistler" in its beta form. It will be released sometime in the
latter half of this year. Microsoft says it's the first major development
since Windows 95 and is based on th

for my scanning work, and thought I'd just run it by the forum for opinions,
oversights, have my assumptions corrected, and perhaps even be some help to
others too.
