Hi Jim, I think most scanning programs need the TIFF files to be uncompressed. When you save as TIFF, hit the Settings... button and choose "None" for both monochrome and grayscale compression. This is how it works in Acrobat 5; different versions of Acrobat may have a different user interface. N

As was mentioned, you can either print the PDF files and convert them to TIFF format, then read them in with a music scanner. If you are on Windows, many people find the combination of SharpEye Music Reader with our Dolet for Finale plug-in produces more accurate results than the alternatives. But

Hello, Ole. The responses you have gotten so far are correct in that this is major deficiency in Finale. I don't think there is any need for an additional global setting, but a way to shorten individual secondary beams is definitely missing. But no one has told you the best workaround. This work

Ole, Finale does not offer the possibility of automatically extending complete secondary beams over rests while keeping the partial secondary beams (the 32nd stub in your example) short. Here is a workaround for the case you mention: - in Document Options/Beams make sure Extend Secondary Beams

You don't say which version you are using, but at least in Fin2004 there are two checkboxes in Options/DocumentOptions/Beams -- one is Extend Beams Over Rests and the next is Extend Secondary Beams Over Rests. I don't remember when that was introduced, but it's there in Fin2004. There are also
