You need to go to the MIDI menu (or the Options menu/Midi Devices in
earlier versions of Finale) and be sure you have selected the proper
device that you have attached your midi cables to, as INPUT DEVICE.

I'm trying to hook my computer up to 2-manual Rodger's electric organ via MIDI cables. However, when I playnotes in hyperscribe mode, expecting the notes to be picked up by Finale, nothing happens. Is there a setting that needs to be changed regarding the MIDI channels? I'd be happy to read any
