Up till now I was mainly present as a lurker on this list.
I can however recommend the HP 1320 as a perfect companion
for FinMac 2006 and Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.2).
The USB-2 printer delivers very fine print quality (1200dpi) and
has Postscript level 2 (emulation) on board. It is fast

Is you score displaying at transposed pitch? If so, that's the
reason. By default Bass Clarinet is set to appear in treble clef. If
you want bass clef, go to Staff Tool and double click on the B Cl
staff. Under Transposition, deselect Set to Clef...
That should do it.

both look as if they would meet my needs, with the extra $200 buying

Just my two cents - just purchased a Lexmark W812 a few weeks ago for
about $800 and it works as well as any of the HP large format printers
for a lot less. Hoping to get the duplex unit soon for another $200 or
so...

But to answer the question, the most likely explanation is that the
transposition is set to force the clef to treble clef. This kind of
transposition allows clef changes to exist in concert pitch display but
hides them in transposed display. It is intended primarily for
bass/baritone instrument
because the composer for whom I am working is setting it that way in his

Scroll View, I switch to Page View and suddenly notes have veered off the
edges of the page on nearly every staff. Applying any time of music spacing
only worsens the problem? Redrawing the screen doesn't fix the problem

Is this an "update layout" problem? Try going to the edit menu and
choosing "Update Layout", and see if that cures the problem. If you
like, you can select "Automatic Update Layout" further down in the
edit menu, and Finale will take care of this in the background. I

I have spent all night and all day today writing. I know this is horrible, but I hadn’t saved my file yet. I went to print out a draft copy, and Finale (FinMac2006) unexpectedly quit. Is there anyplace this file might be saved as a backup (

players to read transposed Bass Clari parts (up 9th) and *concert pitch*
bass clef. Neither was impressed at the time!
