Are you by any chance using iKey 1.x?
I had this all the time (with a different key) when using the older
version of iKey. It only happened in Finale, but there must have been
some kind of conflict between iKey and Finale. Upgrading to iKey 2.1
solved the problem.

sorry forgot to mention that... no, i moved all my fonts to opentype
recently, and when reinstalling (fontexplorerX 1.1) i checked all

i'm sure this is specific to finale, it doesn't happen in other apps.
i have a custom font which i renamed long ago from snnotes to SNNotes

Yes. Still using 1.7. I banned the clunky interface of iKey 2 after
using it for a while.
Do you mean that it interfere with Finale's own shortcuts?

Well, it is impossible to save this file as one EPS since it has quite
a number of pages. I did try to save as PS and
Friends,
A MAC-using friend of mine seems to have lost contact with ALL of his

I have not loaded FINALE on a MAC in a while, but there semms no CUSTOM

Any suggestions?
He has a 2006b disk, but has upgraded to 2006d on a non-intel MAC;-)

I don't know if this still applies, but we had a discussion about pdf
anomalies back at the beginning of 2005. Here is what I wrote (and
discovered) then:
There are some anomalies on the Mac side of things as well when it
comes to printing and viewing pdfs.

This is different than my experience.
I found that if a .pdf file didn't display correctly in Preview, then
Acrobat 7 would probably display it and print it correctly. Usually
these were .pdfs from PC users.
Isn't this odd!
Incidentally, so far I have been using Apple's built-in pdf
I am far from an expert in this area, but this has been my

well for other Mac users, but when I send those pdfs to PC users,
there are staff lines and other things missing. I have cured this by

For those without Distiller, Preview will also convert PS files to PDF.

As a matter of fact I personally think that PStill is a much better PS
to PDF converter than Acrobat Distiller. The files are smaller, and as I
have now discovered, more reliable, too.

Hi --
I have recently purchased Finale 2006b, and am trying to open up some jazz
charts that I had created in v. '02, and nothing but the Wingdings font is
coming up on my screen inside the document. Can you tell me how to download
the Jazz font into my system so that I can read, edit, and
Fonts are either in Library/Fonts or /Users//UserName/Library/Fonts
(where Username is your user's name). Assuming you are using Finale on OS X.
The suggestion about downloading the fonts is a good one. Or you can use
the installer, and do a Custom Install and just do the fonts again.

i am using 1.0.7. i remember a discussion about having to rebuild
all scripts one by one and about the unfriendly interface of iKeys 2
and so never bothered.
i have discovered a way to stop it. it is in fact linked to my m key
for most, since an m-metatool artic did the same thing. i

yeah i did already. no change with this font, although it worked for

Hi Jef,
Yes, holding the stuck key while clicking will unstick it. However,
upgrading to iKey 2.1 is really quite painless. It's a bit of a drag
to create *new* shortcuts in iKey, but if you already have everything
you use regularly programmed in iKey 1.x, those shortcuts will
transfer
