Anybody know if there is a quick way to vertically align several
articulations? I use them for fingerings and want to line up the
fingerings for a chord. Thanks

I do it by entering the fingerings as lyrics.

Go into page view, turn on rulers, strike a guide, and snap the
articulations to it.
I actually made a library of fingerings as shape articulations, but
that's not near as quick as what you want.

Darcy,
Thanks for adding to the answer. That explains why I can't change all
the part names to another font in one go.
I had created my parts, then formatted and made a lot of changes

Funny that it works in 2k7.
Seriously, that can't be. I have been using this for ages. Perhaps it is
new for expressions?

From your website it looks like you are fingering guitar music. If you want
to place the fingering numbers to the left of noteheads easiest is to define
the finger number as 'center horizontally' but set the handle's horizontal
distance as about -10 EVPUs. Define the articulation with a metatool.
Hi Chris,
I am confused. As far as I know, it is not possible for the same text
block to have different font settings in parts vs. score when using
linked parts. So you should have been able -- forced, really -- to
change them all at once.
Are you sure you did not, for example, have a
Hey Richard
Yes, definitely guitar music.
Thanks, I'll check it out your library file. Your music has always
had a nice look, so maybe I should look at it as an engraver instead
of as a guitarist!
I've got some articulation fingerings already defined to automatically
be placed in
A couple of years ago I made a concerted effort to try out Sibelius. I had a
lot of input from the Sib listserv and Daniel Spreadbury (sp?). Turned out
that neither the whiteout fingerings nor the auto placement of fingerings
before noteheads was possible. Those were both deal busters for me.
You're right. We did do it for both in 2k7. For some reason, I thought
it was added to something in 2k9, but it wasn't.

Hi All,
I have a FinMac2008b score that is now refusing to play back using GPO
and Human Playback. With HP off, the file plays back perfectly. With HP
on, it hangs at 39% saying Reading Score Item.
Any ideas about what to try?

How do I set an expression or repeat text to make Finale *not* play a
passage on a specific staff the first pass but do play it on the 2nd pass of
a repeat? Does this require some convoluted work-around?

Funny -- mine too, Aaron! The d as top of the range in my trombone

Well.
Assuming that an expression made using the tools that Finale provides
could be considered to be unusual...
Yeah, the advice is good. I find tempo marking are good candidates.
As the playback hangs at 39%, check at around 39% of the way through
the piece for expressions with tempo
