I had a similar but different problem with 2014.5 and OS10.11: th machine wouldn't remember MIDI mappings. If I had to shut down (which I did frequently given that I was running an 8 yo MAC), I'd get the rests too. All I had to do was "rescan MISI" and it was fine, but it was very inconvenient.

Finale 25 Sierra OS (12.1?) Brand-new iMac Here's what it's doing: When I drag the horizontal scroll bar, it "bounces back" a certain distance. When my cursor is in blank space, the window contents will move all by themselves. When I select a measure in Speedy, it will jump to another measure.

I think context is the key here. Remember that you're dealing with natural horns. First, if there is no clef, assume treble, because that would be the most usual clef, esp. if the writing is at all conjunct, Bass is not impossible, for low notes, but not likely. Next, assume that the horns are
