Ignore my post concerning problems merging extracted part files. I just
merged three extracted part files with no problem - first following your
advice, Christopher, checking to make sure that all had the same staff
name, (changed the one letter difference) and it worked marvelously

a result of non-matching midi channels, not so much non-matching staff
names.
