One problem solved! When I purchased the Vienna font, there was a directory OSX with four versions of the font, and a WIN directory with two versions. After days of failing to get ANY of the OSX Vienna fonts to work on my MacBook, including emptying my caches, and trying everything possible,

the default file can be *anywhere* you want it to be, as long as the folder path (do not write the path, use the dialogues to select it) for the default file is correctly set up to look for it there. Well, the default file needs to be in ~/library/application support/makemusic/finale 2012/
