Don, sorry for the long rant previously. There is a "fill in rests" (or some such) feature that you can turn off, but that doesn't account for the inadvertent whole rests. I may be entering them without knowing, in some way. But so far, when I finish a score and want to optimize, I select all, d

Hi, Don, It's a mystery why sometimes "hide empty measures" leaves some empty stave showing. It's always because there is *something* in those measures. I assume it is a stray hard whole rest, but it could be something else. My orchestra scores are pretty huge, and in the later finale versions,

Sorry Linda--I missed your explanation of where these whole rests are coming from. The inadvertent entries I understand, but I haven't had any trouble with Finale-generated whole rests. Is it a feature you can turn off? Can you elaborate? - Don On Sat, May 30, 2015 at 4:30 PM, Don Hart wrote:

Hi Linda, In speedy or simple note entry one has to enter real whole rests on purpose, in lieu of the default whole rests that show in empty measures, so it's always seemed to me an efficient way to keep from hiding a staff. If I recall correctly, that was also the method used to preserve staves

Optimize is now "hide empty measures" and it's found in the menu bar under "staff" (with the staff tool in use) at the bottom of the list. You muse select the range of measures hyou want... um... optimized... and it will hide the empty measures. It won't hide any empty measures containing "hard"

It's called "hide empty staves" - not able to check exactly where it is at the moment. Cheers, Lawrence On 29 May 2015 at 20:53, Patsy Moore wrote: > Hello Listers, > > I've found out how to hide a single empty staff, but not found an > equivalent of the 2000 "optimise" which would hide all th

Hello Listers, I've found out how to hide a single empty staff, but not found an equivalent of the 2000 "optimise" which would hide all the empty staves in however many systems of a score I chose, with one command. Have I missed a renamed equivalent in 2014? I tried the Index on "optimise" and
