situations.

I restarted my computer and then reinstalled the Dec Dev Tools, the
SDK, and the User packages. This time it installed correctly. Weird.
X11 shouldn't need a restart, but I was going to restart anyway for
QuickTime 6.1.

And by "reinstalling Apple's X11" you mean both the SDK and the User
installers, right? You're missing all of the libraries that come in
the SDK package.

I think I've just found an answer to this question by discovering the
"applesystemfonts" package. Also installed freetype hinting libraries,
MS core fonts, etc. Lots more choices now!
