Since installing perl5.8 as described on the apple developer site, Fink Commander does not work. That is, the beachball spins, but no packages are ever listed. I think the cause is something to do with the environment setting for locale -- 'LC_ALL'. My .login sets 'LC_ALL' to 'C' in order to avoid
