I am trying to install lyx from source and the installation fails. This
is the last line of compiler output and the error message:
gcc -c -DLOCALEDIR=\"/sw/share/locale\"
-DLOCALE_ALIAS_PATH=\"/sw/share/locale\" -DLIBDIR=\"/sw/lib\"
-DIN_LIBINTL -DENABLE_RELOCATABLE=1 -DIN_LIBRARY
-DINSTALLDIR

They don't really have to match. You might try moving /usr/local out
of the way temporarily and seeing if you get an identical errror.

complicate things... No libraries in /usr/local/lib that match the
names in the error messages. Is there something specific I should be
looking for?
