1) The 'command not found' error you got with joe is most likely due to
your PATH not yet being set up to include /sw/bin . Pico works because
/usr/bin is in the PATH. If you do a "printenv PATH" you'll see what I
mean.
You may well have been trying to do this very thing by editing .cshrc .
