It seems the ftgl package is broken on Leopard. I have the updated
Xquartz installed (the fink-specific variant), though I doubt that's
relevant.

On Mac OS X 10.4.3, the fink tcltk package (8.4.6-2) can't import Tk
(fails with bus error). The problem seems to be that the package adds
various outside dirs to the default package search path, including
/System/Library/Frameworks. Removing this dir from tcltk.patch fixes
