Hello all.
I hope this hasn't been covered already, although I'm sure it has.
I'm told that a list of bizarre users in my Users preference pane are created by Fink. But does anyone know why Fink does this?
I've only installed Gimp and XFree86 via Fink, and suddenly these users showed up in my U
At the moment, gnumeric is available as a package in fink's "unstable"
tree. (It made a brief appearance in the stable tree yesterday, but
was withdrawn because some of the things it depends on are not yet
in the stable tree.)
To use it, you will need to copy the .info and .patch files for gnum

I've been struggling with getting ddd installed, and finally turned
to fink to help me. ddd depends on a Motif-compatible library, like
Lesstif, so I installed it first, then installed ddd. Fink doesn't
complain about either of the installations.
However, when I try to execute ddd, I get:

If you use the new XFree86 v 4.2, together with new versions of the
lesstif and ddd packages available in the post-0.3.2a unstable tree
of fink, everything should work fine. (You get post-0.3.2a files by
running "fink self-update" and selecting the CVS option.)
If these work for you, please in
Hi,
The last few days I cannot do an update with cvs. If I do a fink
selfupdate, I see the line cvs z3 (...) and nothing seems to happens.
Usually I could see all the files scroll over the screen. Is there a
problem with the cvs server? How do I return to a normal update?
thanks,
- Koen.

I'd already run "fink selfupda
You should have the fftw package installed. If not, install it. If so,
reinstall it ('fink reinstall')--this reinstalls all the files without
recompiling, and if that doesn't work, try rebuilding it ('fink rebuild').

Some packages (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) need their own users to run (for
security/safety reasons). For some weird reason, gnome-libs depends on

Hi,
Before I complain, thank you all for working on fink and porting
packages.
My question is this: why does gnuplot depend on tetex? The
simple answer, apparently, is "so that fink can build and install
the documentation, which comes as LaTeX source."
I have a transient (i.e., dialup) 56K co

If you chose the CVS option in fink selfupdate, you now have the post-0.3.2a
files. You will have to go into the unstable tree, find the packages
for lesstif and ddd, and copy the .info and .patch file

Actually, the gnuplot package should probably be modified so that it says
BuildDepends: tetex-base , rather than De
