I am having much grief over gnome. It does not see all the pictures
installed, like the splash screen for instance. they are there, but ti
will not use them. this is where they have been installed to:
/sw/share/pixmaps/splash/gnome-splash-1.4.0.png
I have a fink stable install from binary packages, with a few specific
unstable packages installed (done by copying over the *.info and *.patch
files from the unstable dist directory to the local dist directory as per
the instructions at the fink website).
Today I tried to install the wxgtk unsta
I'm trying to downgrade my XFree86 4.2 to check if that broke my
(non-Fink) GNAT-aware GVD. I've got some debs on my system named
xfree86-base_4.1.0-8_darwin-powerpc.deb
xfree86-rootless_4.1.99.20011029-1_darwin-powerpc.deb
Running
fink install xfree86-base-4.1.
Just FYI: I think fileutils are definitly worth it, and work
wonderful for me. That is, the Fink ones which disable the rm
command for exatly this reason.
BTW, to clarify even more: it's not really GNU fileutils being a
buggy; they just stumble over a bug in OS X.
Cheers,
Max

In my opinion, no. The system already includes most of that stuff...

You're on your own for the former (I suggest installing your own
Moving rm to rm2 in the /usr/local/bin directory seems to have done the
trick. Packages install fine. I'm starting to wonder if fileutils is
worth it. I just wanted the colored ls and the expanded grep command,
but I'm wondering what other errors this addition may have caused.

The newest version of Fink (0.9.9 and 0.3.2a.cvs) seems to be working
very well for me on a 266 Wallstreet Powerbook. I have not had any
problems with compiling errors and have had luck getting gnumeric,
gnucash and abiword.
Great job - fink maintainers and programmers. Truly we have the best

Does re-installing or rebuilding libjpeg help? Maybe it's a brokenly /
partially installed package. Maybe. I'd try rebuilding it before removing.

I wiped my OS X partition and reinstalled OS X 10.1.3 to try to sort
out some problems. Now I'm reinstalling a bunch of stuff with Fink.
I decided to compile everything from scratch rather than use my

Hi,
I installed mysql 3.23.49 without a hitch, but then experienced
intermittent core dumps when I tried to use it.
A little poking around later, I discovered a patch to libmysql.c

What is "g++" anyway? The standard dev tools don't contain any g++ under
