Just one point: apt-get install patch places a new patch in /sw/bin.
Think to remove the one in /usr/bin.

Thus far my problem seems to be solved, apt-get install patch fixed it.

Well, unfortunately "fink install patch" gets the same freeze patching
patch that it did patching other packages, but apt-get install patch
worked fine and I don't seem to be getting any more freezes but I'll
reserve judgment until I see how it does with more packages. After I
have tried it w

Hi,
I didn't get a response on fink-beginners, so I thought I'd try here.
I'm running MacOS 10.2 and Fink 0.10.0.cvs.
I tried to install postgresql with
$ fink install postgresql
and I got:

Hello,
I had the same problem a couple of times. Finally, it was solved by
reinstalling the July Dev Tools and REBOOTING the system. Hope this
helps.

It looks like your developer tools installation is corrupt. That file

Hi
I had some problems upgrading Fink from 10.1 to 10.2, so I erased my drive
and installed 10.2 and 10.2 Developer Tools fresh from scratch, and
rebooted. Then I followed the instructions at:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/jag-bootstrap.php
but while running the bootstrap script,
OK, I tried without any other application running. But I got the
same result :-(
Some times in the past I could manage to overcome this bye trying
two or three times. But for kdebase3, it completely refuses to
work.
Maybe I'll retry when this machine is upgraded to 10.2.

I'll try again without these programs running.

I have noticed exactly this same behavior (although not recently) - but I am
afraid that I have not kept any output logs. I also noticed that rerunning the
installation command for a specific package often worked the second time.
What other applications are running when this happens? Although I d

Hello,
I sometimes encounter a very annoying problem when installing
some packages using Fink. This especially appears with huge
installations.
I happens that the fink process freezes when performing a "patch"
command. For instance, I tried today to install KDE using "fink
install bundle-kde". A
