Which "compress-zlib-pm" package was it trying to install? You should be
able to install -pm560 without installing perl-5.6.1: I've got it on one of
my machines, using only the builtin Perl. Otherwise, what you could do is
sudo cp /usr/bin/perl5.6.0 /usr/bin/perl
to revert the default perl exec
Just wondering how the unstable stuff works. I know you uncomment a bit
in /etc/fink.conf to enable it in fink, but can you get apt to recognise
the unstable tree too? Or can you only compile stuff for unstable and
not get binaries? When I try and point the sources.list at the unstable
tree,

Hi Alex,
apt knows only about binary packages and unstable packages do not exist
as binaries. See http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php#bindist

Hi Peter,
does this help? I saved these lines from the log, then also tried to
paste the whole log into an email over a remote connection. Unfortunately,
that made the Terminal crash so I have only these link lines below right
now. I'll try to send the whole log again later. This is from a rebuil
Simon,
I initially had this problem several weeks ago when 10.2.7 first
appeared but within a few days fink installed without a problem after
there were some references in the packages that were updated to include

Hi Folks:
A few days ago openssh Version 3.7.1p1-2 was apparently put into fink unstable.
I cannot find the info and patch files for this. I just cvs selfupdated (again) 2 minutes ago and the latest version I can find in /sw/fink/dists/unstable/crypto/finkinfo is 3.6.1
I therefore edited that f
If you haven't gotten them yet, I've attached a tarball (to keep from introducing stray newlines).

Actually, I managed to get it going, I should've read through some
older posts before posting mine. :-)
It's because it had not picked up the latest fink info. I found an
older post someone else was having the same problem as me. Took the
advice there and it all works perfectly now.

O
I, too, haven't been able to find and install openssh 3.7.1p1-2.
I would appreciate if somebody in the list emailed me the appropriate
tarball.

Alexander,
Actually, I was quite glad to see you post the files, until I
discovered they were for openssl, and not openssh.
I too have been hoping to have openssh 3.7.1p1-2 show up in a fink
selfupdate-cvs, as I noted the web site showed this version in
unstable several days ago. But it appea
OK folks, since the tarball is smaller than a long crash log, and
because it's a security issue, I'll send out the openssh tarball (.info
and .patch files) (flame me offline if you don't want it)--the openssl
one went out (onlist) because I was trying to do two things at once.
