Hi all, thanks for your replies! I found the solution, and it was quite interesting: I had Darwinports installed recently and removed it *after* I switched to fink. Thus, my fink-python linked against a Darwinports-zlib, which was no longer in place. I solved the problem by rebuilding python. It
