i didn't see rysnc on the software update notes but according to
macfixit.com it *was* part of the security update.
i am running 10.3.9 but not sure if i should apply the update...

when he runs glibtoolize, he's properly getting
/sw/share/aclocal/libtool.m4 in configure though. Does he have
/sw/bin/glibtoolize?
