I have recently updated to yosemite. While trying to get fink up from scratch,
I found out that I cannot install octave due to its dependency on legacy java.
I would like to refrain from installing java6 just to get octave. I searched
the fink-users archieves and found the following thread

Hi,
Is it possible to update or make a new package for a more recent version of
gnulib than gnulib-20110609-2? I am trying to make a new fink package for GNU
PSPP ( http://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/ ) and it fails to link without a
function called verify_expr that seems to have been introduced
