I've have a problem with several command-line packages installed via Fink, most importantly Midnight Commander and Mutt. I assume the problem is with key-bindings or something akin, but must admit my own ignorance in further troubleshooting the problem. Essentially, with mc and mutt installed,
1) The lack of a startup splash and icons is because there's an
incompatibility betwen libpng and libpng3. This was brought out by one
of the developers on Sunday, but a solution hasn't been brought out, as
far as I know.
If this was brought out by one of the developers on Sunday then
Well an imlib downgrade solved all problems for now!!! ThanX everyone!
I really went on a trip with that one!! Thanks for the help, in spite
of my ranting.. I'll try to be more reserved next glitch I
mean time.

Set the path in the menu to /sw/bin/xmms ... You may have to start esd
before though just to be sure. xterm -e esd xmms would be the command
to enter in the applications menu to launch xmms.

Anyone know how to correct the window widget problem in Xfce? My browser
windows etc, do not have the upper bar widgets, such as the
maximize-minimize function, the quit X , etc. In fact the upper bar is
totally empty of widgets. I have the same problem on Linux so this is not
a Fink-specific
ThanX Jeremy!
I'll give a try too. That 15 minute login may lead to sleepless nights

Here is my entry that got lost because of a badly written subject line.

Thanks to you for making that clear to me. Now to the task au boulot.
I will keep all posted in case others run into the same problems.
I will also follow Ben Hines' suggestion and will rebuild gtk-doc.
Merci et salut!

Thank you all.!!!:):):) SUCCESS! I did a delete, re-install, and
er-compiloe of openjade, docbook-bundle, and gtk-doc, the latest versions
of each. I have successfully installed Xfce, and even ROX to but a bit of
icing on the Fink cake.
It seems that I may have
missed a few steps during my long
I can't install Xfce because I keep getting this message:

I simply can't believe the amazing amount of work that went into this
project. I can't tell you all how grateful I am! I will be testing all I
can. Of all the Window Managers to date, WindowMaker seems the fastest the
most free of problems. KWM in KDE seems the most prone to causing X
craches.
This kind of anonymity and universality, which you can find Jorge Luis
Borge's novels, really amuses me all the time.
After all, Chaos is a quite rigorous study and an equally rigirous
phenomenon, or should I say principle. The Fink developers all, are
flowing with the Chaos of an evolving OS,
