Thanks for replying, Alexander. I did a full and successful install of the Dev Tools yesterday. The installer reported no errors. Just now, I rechecked the 'fink selfupdate' command and I'm getting the 'connection reset by peer' error, so that's good news if it wants to try to connect to cvs

It looks like you're missing something on your Dev Tools install, since /usr/bin/cvs can't be found, and that's what installs it. For XDarwin, check and see if you actually have /usr/X11R6/bin on your system, and not just /Application/XDarwin.app Otherwise, run /Applications/Utilities/Console.app
