I've not had any problem with launch on either of my boxes. When you say that your PowerBook prompts for a login and password, this is the OSX login screen, i.e. graphical, as opposed to a text-only login screen? Are you able to use Preferences->Accounts->Set Auto Login, or is that grayed out
