As far as I know you can't do it 'on the fly'. The best thing I can think of is to use an environment that allows you to save the workspace configuration. WindowMaker lets you do this, and I'm pretty sure GNOME will, too. -- Alexander K. Hansen Associate Research Scientist, Columbia University L

I recently moved over to the rootless server (Thanks everyone for the help btw.) and I tried using rootless mode, and I decided to go back to rooted. However what I would *really* like is to be able to change rooted/rootless on the fly. Is this at all feasible, or does something about how XFree86/

This is a problem with the default window manger (twm) that comes with Xdarwin. You'll need to install a different window manager and set your system up to run it. Check out http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/x11/index.php for more information. 'fink list | grep anager' will give you a list of w
