I deleted all the lines Peter mentioned and the offending cp, and disabled
libjava-multilib as you recommended.
I deleted as opposed to commenting out as I had some stray # that was
messing everything up. I guess you can diff to see the exact changes!

the lines suggested by Peter and adding the line suggested by David.
