Thank you for your reply. I just tested a GBAK restore using -se(rvice) switch
on a 1 GB DB. It took about 8 minutes. Restoring the same database using
IBExpert took about 3 minutes.
I'm looking for a faster restore time because I want to automate the process
using a batch file. Our DB is over

we are still on FB 1.5 release, our live Database is about 50 GB. While using
the freshly restored database, things are very fast in the beginning but they

backup/restore after 4 weeks or so.
In the beginning we were

Hello All, I was looking for a good replication tool to replicate our FB
database. I came across FBReplicator from IBPhoenix. The tools is not that
simple to setup but it works good if setup properly.
The only question I have regarding this tool is whether it allows metadata
replication or not.
Thank you Josh,We are dealing with your old issue now. we upgraded from 2003 32
bit to win 2008 server 64 bit. We have two servers. Our plan is to downgrade
one server to 2003 32 bit and use it for now. The second server will remain on
win 2008. We will install FB 2.5.2 on it and test our apps
it?

We recently upgraded our database server from Win server 2003 to Win 2008

The new hardware (IBM x3550 M4) is way more advanced than the old one. 4 times
the RAM and CPU speed.
We ran some tests on the new hardware(a few select/update queries), the

Thank you for your reply. I used default restore settings and I got over 8
hours of restore time. Increasing the cache size using gfix -b did not help at
all. I got the same result. I don't think it helps during the restore
process.-Halim
