Art, have you tried changing the MIC level settings in the D44 Panel. I
don't have one in front of me, but you want to change the db setting for the
MIC
input. HOWEVER; be sure to return it to the SDR setting before using the SDR
otherwise you may overdrive it or even damage the PA.
Welcome Bruce!
It is an absolutely great transceiver.
For hamming, there are so many pluses,
which you are probably discovering.
For SWLing, there's some great things too.
The panadapter is neat. The waterfall has
some nice uses. Tune to WWV and see the
tones, ticks, and the BCD data. Make

Chas,
I keep my rig always on 100 watts and use the TX gain control in the
Setup->Audio->VAC to lower my power to 40 watts.
My current setting is -9 dB.
That is the only control I use to modify RX/TX gain when using digital
modes (DIGIU).

GA All,
If some of you are running MixW using VAC, how do you control the AF
level and thus the output power? Previously on my K2, I would set it
to maximum power, about 12 watts, and control the AF level to get an
output of about 5 watts peak. As I burned out the finals on one

This is Dan's first salient. Let's see how it goes and what is brought up in
the group discussion. We can record and post as we usually do. Also since I
do post the audio on forums and point to it via Reflector. The post audio
forum discussion can be on the fourm in response to that audio.

Dudley,
I just tested this and was unable to reproduce the issue. Leave the
Hang at 1000ms and try setting the threshold to 0. If that does not
work, then the ambient noise in your shack is triggering the VOX. We do
need to improve the scaling of the threshold. That will come in a
