Seems to me this is only a "problem" if you can't
stand to live without 96khz. If you run the stock
firebox at 48k you will be extremely happy with the
SDR-1000 performance. The other advantage is the
firebox has all the necessary preamp and phantom

Bill,
The peak current should be equal to the steady state current at 100
watts. At 13.8 volts and 100 watts the current is about 7 amps. If you
figure the efficiency at about 50% that would be about 14 amps. My
Astron current meter measured it at 10 amps so, either the efficiency is
better

Alan,
The Flex user community was warned about using the Firebox beta firmware from
Flex. Everyone who upgraded did so at their own risk. Let me explain the
issues and you can make you own decision.
The Firebox is supposed to have about 50 KHz (or better) bandwidth for audio
response. Wit

Well, Bill, I had my Astron 50 Amp power supply
current limiting set to a little over about 20 Amps.
On voice peaks it would sag the voltages, so now
I have current limiting much higher.
The specs say 25 Amperes and it doesn't blow the
25 Amp fuse.

does anyone know the peak current at 13.8vdc that the flex uses at full
power through its 100 watt amp?

I have not wired up my pw1 yet but it did work when the band decoder was
connected to my Orion so that's not an issue.
Wire comm. port 1 goes to the computer input of the band decoder, as normal.
Wire a 3 wire null modem cable (with two female plugs) and connect that

I am wondering if any Flexer has set up the MicroHam band selection unit
with the SDR-1000 to control the Icom PW-1 amplifier for automatic QSY?
Any words of wisdom will be appreciated.
Thanks

GM All,
I had a hardware problem that is unusual but worthy of passing on. I
was having a problem where my USB -> parallel adapter would drop out
and would not work again even though I restarted the computer. I
would have to reload the driver to reset it. Once reset, it would
work ok on rec
