The darlington diode doesn't protect against a high plus voltage at the collector. The collapsing magnetic field in the K17 relay coil at turnoff produces a reverse polarity pulse across the coil which turns out to be a big positive voltage at the collector. ( I think) Larry K2LT Philip The

If U10 and U11 are ULA2003 driver chips then they have the anode of a diode at each output. All the cathodes are connected to the CD pin 10 which is then wired to the plus side of the relay coil supply. This puts a back diode across each coil. When I first started to use my SDR-1000 with my D
