Mike, I thought that the Flex Radio required powered speakers. What you are
saying is the audio output of the Flex can be input to an amplifier and then
you can use any speakers? Makes sense to me.

I visit the thrift stores (Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc).
Sometimes they have high-end Hi-Fi equipment at low prices.
I've found huge, high-end speakers for $10 each. I bought a
very nice Marantz solid state amplifier for $8. The SDR-1000
sounds beautiful through that amp and big speakers.

Bill,
I operated SO2R using one SDR-1000 and one K2/100 for awhile. I did
it on a single computer. I used N1MM which has provision for SO2R,
and also two copies of MixW 2.16 which does not have provision for
S02R. I only have bandpass filters for two bands, 20 and 40, so
these were the band
I presently have a Yaesu ft1000mp. I run a software program that does my
logging, rig control, antenna azimuth etc.
The interface is a microHAM keyer.
It provides me numerous com ports via a USB hardware and virtual comports
system.
It's time to think about another rig.
I'm considereing the SDR.
I couldn't agree more!!
You allude to a "temporary" way to key the SDR via keyboard; (Permanent PTT
key programmed onto the keyboard).
Care to share? I haven't figured out how to key the rig from the keyboard
yet.

Try Ham Radio Deluxe or MixW - both will handle PSK63 and I'm sure there are
others out there.

Dan,
just out of curiosity I performed the following experiment:
Using PowerSDR1.9.0 SVN821
Scound card is a Delta-44
Disconnected the Delta-44 cable at the break-out box, thus disconnecting the
hardware
Preamp set to Med
Measured the noise floor in a 500Hz filter. To stabilize the digital signal
I am looking for some software to run PSK 63 with my SDR. Does anyone have
a suggestion? 73, K9LZJ

I presently use Win-Test with a pair of Orion IIs. It is a fantastic

I was thinking about the coding gain that we are currently using when we
sample at 48K samples per second, but only use a 500 Hz bandwidth. This
reduction in bandwidth results in (I think) ~ 20 db of gain, which is
essentially a sensitivity improvement.
The question that I was wondering was if in

While wintest is a nice program, I find it somewhat
limited on the US contest support.
I would recommend you also look at N1MM Logger. Its free
and probably one of the best contesting programs there
are. I does support SO2R contesting, though I have not
used that feature with the SDR1K yet.
Look at WinTest using TS2000 emulation.

Has anyone tried this? If so, I am curious as what contesting
software package you're using and how you interface it with the
SDR-1000s.
I can imagine the SDR-1000s becoming the ultimate contest radio,
especially if a pair of them can be used together with a virtual SO2R
controller built
DLLs need to first be removed manually the

I should clarify that UltraVNC is a particular flavor or modification of the
standard VNC (Virtual Network Computing) that comes with Ubuntu. The file
sharing is a function of this flavor/mod.

I use UltraVNC for this sort of thing -- keyboard, mouse, and video from
computers across the room, across town, or on the other side of the world.
:) It has some nice features like file sharing and performance-wise, it is
much faster than Windows Remote Desktop. Also, it works on linux and even
Sorry I should have clarified.
It is only a keyboard & mouse system. It does allow copying & pasting from
one machine to another - you can't drag & drop, you have to copy & paste.
I've used it to control one laptop & two pc's from one keyboard & mouse at
the same time, but the options are limitle
At your suggestion I just installed it and it seems to only
virtualize Keyboard and Mouse Not video??? am I doing something wrong???

Actually, when you are in DIGL/DIGU mode, all of the processing is turned
off. So don't worry about turning off the leveler, COMP, or CPDR. The Gate

There is a KB article of speaker brands known to work with the SDR-1000.
All you need to do is a search on "speakers"
