Hi,
maybe you have a noise generating optical mouse.
I experienced noise problems with an optical mouse.
I tried a different one and the noise was gone.

Does anyone know where I can buy a softrock , or softrock lite or
similar board? I want one that covers, or that I can modify to cover
4.9 MHz +/-. I found some in UK for 160 - 30 meters, but is there a US source?

Sure, as long as you are transmitting around 60 Hz.
The big, iron transformer on the pole outside doesn't
pass much HF. If you could couple to the primary
side, you might get a little.
