[Flexradio] SDR 1K for Sale

2008-06-11 Thread Ken
It would appear no one was interested in the SDR1K for the price I mentioned. So if the demand isn't' there, I'll follow the supply/demand economics mode: Unmodified SDR 1k with 100w amp. Purchased March 2006. Excellent condition. Firebox and all software/cables I'll even throw in a printed

[Flexradio] new RX2 installed

I received the RX2 yesterday and installed it last night. Firmware 1.2 became available just in time. I downloaded the RX2 test PowerSDR, and got things running. I'm hoping that PowerSDR 1.12 (scheduled for release today) will solve a couple of bugs. FLEX - TAKE NOTICE of the following. Now,

[Flexradio] 6m: preamp vs. transverter

2008-06-11 Thread William Hein
Flex-5000 50-Mhz performance falls a little short for the weakest of weak-signal DX. What's the best remedy? 6m preamp in the RX loop? Or using the Flex-5000 as a 28-MHz IF for a high-performance transverter? Anyone tried both approaches? I am confident that with a little boost the 5000

2008-06-11 Thread Tim Ellison
I am running a 6m preamp through the RX loop with great results for weak signal work. I added about 12 dB of gain and that seems to do very well. I don't have a 6m transverter, so someone else would have to comment, but I suspect it will work well too. -Tim -Original Message- From:

Hello Bill, I've been using the FLEX-5000A on 6m with an inexpensive 20 year old Radio Shack (Archer) 50Mhz - 450 MHz CATV preamplifier in the RX1 In/Out loop. It supposedly has 10 dB of gain, which is enough that connecting and disconnecting a 3-ele yagi pointed North (quietest direction for

You know, Ross, I read your question several times because it bothered me since I have recently encountered a small question with the Flex5000A but only because I was pushing the ham radio envelope and it reminded me of a situation in my own life when I was working for a custom machine builder.
