Bret,
Thanks for the insight into your new radio, and from a current 5K
owner too! You should hear the excited calls that I receive from new
users, they can't believe their ears, (but us 5K owners already knew
this), and sounds like you have that old laptop smoking..

I usually don't send out Emails to the group unless something's important to
me.
I received my Flex-3000 today and I also own the wonderful Flex-5000 and
after playing just a few hours with the FLEX-3000 and making several
contacts I have come to the conclusion that this Radio is going to be a huge
We might get confuse in the nomenclature, but let me describe how I use Fldigi.
Fldigi has the ability to select any of the available bands in PowerSDR along
with any of the 12 predefined mode (group) specific filters.
For the digi modes, I have the preset filters configured for increasing

I've got my Flex 3000 on order and wanted to ask about any tips and hints for
configuring a Flex with HRD.
I understand the Virtual cable stuff, but have some questions about how the
waterfall integrates with PowerSDR.
I am assuming that the main HRD rig control is not used in favor of Power
Hi all, just wondering if someone on the list might have a spare 100
watt PA board for a SDR-1000 lying around that they might want to sell
or trade?
I've been using a Tokyo Hy-Power HL-100BDX with my QRP SDR-1000 for the
past couple of years, and I've decided I'd like to have the SDR

Amen, brother Tim.
My trusty SDR-1000 runs like a charm and I will threaten bodily harm to anyone
who tries to change that!! ;-)

The .NET 1.1 framework is required for PowerSDR. This is explained in the

OK. Let me clear the confusion if I can.
There is a low level HARDWARE IEEE1394 host controller driver that comes with
Windows. You don't load a Firewire host controller driver unless your Firewire
card requires a special driver. The MS KB 955408 hot fix updates The Windows

Hi Group ;
I wish to get a Flex 5000A , I could sell my Icom 756 Pro III ;
however it occurred
to me that some one who likes knobs might want to do a trade .
The Pro III was purchased new about 2 years back from HRO in Atlanta,
is in
perfect shape with no marks works perfectly , comes with
My notes say I should fool around with .NET. Just what is needed
and why? I am not planning to connect the computer in question to
the Internet AT ALL!

I am coming along pretty well I think, but am confused by the
Firewire driver situation. As best I can read the instructions, for
setting up a pretty bare XP Pro SP3 machine, it looks like I should:
Download the latest Flex Firewire

Abandoning Windows just isn't going to happen. The market share is too great
and to do so would be a terrible business decision for anyone who markets
software to the general public.
The best bet is to have other options in addition to Microsoft.
That is just the way it is. Blame Mr. Bill for
After MS in the last on line updated slipped in this you got register this
computer notice every time I start up, I restored the computer to the
beginning of April and have turned off automatic updates on all my
machines. Some folks are worried about MS dropping support of XP, not me

I really hate dealing with those stupid updates. I'm currently using a Dell 2.8
ghz with 3 gigs of RAM that I got refurbished for $250 bucks on eBay. It is not
connected to the internet and only runs PowerSDR. It contains no antivirus
software and runs like greased lightning. Your mileage may v
SUCCESS!!
Again, thanks to all who tried to help.
As a last resort I tried using the Firmware upgrade cable that came with the
tuner(Palstar said not to use it. It won't work!) But nothing else worked so I
tried it and everything works as it should.
Thanks & 73,
