As soon as finances allow I hope to join the SDR revolution. There were a

Mark,
I would try the cable that comes with the radio first. It did not work for me
even with adding chokes. I may have had a bad cable, who knows? I went to
Fry's and bought a Belkin double shielded cable. If you look back to my psot a
few weeks back I gave the part number. This cable

The chokes came from DX Engineering, available in a number of
different sizes for various cables. They make a kit containing a
sampling of each size as well as kits with single sizes. Quick order
processing and shipping.

I'd highly recommend the #31 clamp on kit from DX Engineering as well.
Most of these pre-made cables with unspecified ferrite mixes on them
don't do anything below 20Mhz. If you buy #31, you know it will work
on the lower bands. -Scott, WU2X

They are probably stains from rubber feet from another piece of equipment. It
is a powder coat finish on the FLEX-5000. If solvents are not removing the
stains and you don't want to put another piece of equipment on top of it to
hide them, then a replacement cover might be in order. You could
Try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser available at the grocery store.
It works well for tough stains.

If it is from rubber feet, try Goo-Gone.

Now Dave, that was a starting point, an as the band changes, are we
going to change the time?
Now are know that the left coast it is only 5PM and the East Coast is 8
PM so we can change it to 9 PM, but then it is only 6 PM on the West,
so it is a comprise either way.. Most can't join

I have to agree with
Dudley, how about a long net, join when you can hear it and it can
hear you, leave when you like (for whatever reason). For 40m, maybe
7PM local till 9PM local, but you are welcome to join earlier and/or
stay on longer if you wish and can. Start 7PM ET, end 9PM PT.
Or for 20m, start 4PM
I read why the Flex 5000 does not use a roofing filter somewhere. As I
recall it was due to the RX design. I can't find that info now and I would
like to find out exactly why roofing filters do not have a place in the
5000/3000.
Thanks, Joe

Joe,
Here is a resend of an old thread.. Maybe this helps explain better
