I have the exact same crackling rx audio problem. I found that backing
of on the AGC-T control helped a lot.
As for your second problem, I had that too and resetting the database
seems to have fixed that.

I am experiencing Rx issues after upgrading the Flex 1500 to PowerSDR
2.0.1
I have the same issue (5000A), but I also experienced the same thing with
2.08. I've noticed that the magnitude of the problem coincides with the
magnitude of the noise.

When I turn on the Noise Blanker while listening to a QSO I can hear
another station up to 15kc away. It's more of a pumping sound vs. actual
conversation. The NB default is 20 and I have tried going up and down to no
avail. Also tried different settings of AGC.
I can have the NR on or off a

A friend (W1VZR) is trying to sort this problem out with his Flex 1500.
What might cause the MIC Level slider in Power SDR 2.0.16 and also 2.0.8
to alter the RF carrier level in addition to the TX audio level while
operating in the AM mode? A MIC Level setting of "0" results in no RF
output and
For my all band antenna I have a DX Engineering 1:1 Tuner Balun with their
80m dipole and 300ohm ladder line kit.
I cut the feedline at 93' per their instructions and at 50ft. high the Flex
5000's internal tuner will tune it on all bands 160 through 6m.

Justin,
For my 2 cents worth -- Currently, my primary antenna is a GAP Titan DX. It
is a liner-loaded, shortened vertical dipole design. It covers all bands
80m-10m (including the WARC bands). Less than 2:1 SWR across all bands
except for 80m where 2:1 bandwidth is ~100 kHz.
It is a compromise
I use a homebrew hexagonal beam for 20 - 10 and a "Super Loop" for 40 & 80,
also homebrew. That's about the best I can do on a postage-stamp lot.

Seriously, for lazy man's antenna, I highly recommend the following if you do
not want to do directional antennas.
A horizontal loop that is a bit over 80m in length as high as you can get it.
Feed it with 450 ohm ladder line to a SCG or CG type antenna coupler. It will
be multiband from 160-

There are many types of antennas out there and I was trying to narrow it down a

So far,
Virtual DXCC requires a Virtual Ionosphere.

Absolutely. Virtual DXCC is entirely possible.
What isn't possible.
Is paying for DXCC fees with Virtual dollars.
I tried sending the IRS a virtual check

When I bought my Flex, I had a real problem understanding 'Virtual
Audio Cables'
Then they tried to explain Virtual Com Ports.
That strained my brain.
Now I have to learn how to use Virtual Antennas
This is far too much for an old guy
Now where did I put that Knight Kit
