YMMV, but I've really done well at the guitar stores. They have this stuff
headed for the dumpster which is GOOD JUNK! They look at me like I'm from
another planet, and sell me these intermittent patch cables for a buck or two

separate mic preamp). Use the 1/4" TRS balanced line in connec
XLR's are really inexpensive and also easy to wire up. Many of the local
music stores (find the guitar/drum/disco dealers) have junk bins with
discarded patch cables, etc., for pennies on the dollar. I have purchased
lots of XLR's and good quality shielded cable which I cut up and recycle.
If
Monoprice has the XLR cables, but since the 8-pin connector is rarely
used outside of Amateur Radio, you're at the mercy of niche vendors!

OK, I mis-installed VSPManager and managed to get my COM1 virtualized
(which was not good because I have a real hardware COM1 I was using
to control my amp via CAT), but Steve was kind enough to clue me in
and the amp is now working again.
This brings up the question of how to use CAT for two
