Very good analysis by SM5BSZ. In addition to the points he makes about Flex
transmitters, the question he asks about the ARRL reviews seems to raise a
serious problem. ARRL has identified key-click problems and certain other
transmitter artifacts in their reviews, but this phase noise issue is neve
Hi, Flexers,
I'd like to add myself to the list of happy users of the FlexRadio / computer
services provided by Neal Campbell, K3NC. I was having some software-related
problems with my Flex 5K that Neal was able to cure with his remote access
service, as well as providing good advice on using
Thanks Lars. It may be time to try to duplicate some of the measurements
made by Leif just to make sure. I do have the same SA he mentions in the
article and will try to get to it as soon as I finish up some important
projects. Right now I am trying to get my Diesel tractor running again

Agree but since I use my 5000 with V/U module and run a kW I need to look
into this. I have at least 5-6 locals who also do weak signal work on 2m
and 432.

My solution is to use a 5000A on HF with an amplifier that has a high

I came across this interesting article by SM5BSZ who discusses some possible
transmitter issues with many radios, including the Flex. It has me a bit
concerned. I am wondering if anyone has seen similar data for the Flex 5000?

It would be even nicer to have a timer function with the recorder so it can
launch and close with pre-determined on/off times.

I think it would be a really neat feature to be able to pause an audio
recording. I have to let the recording go on for ever and end up a file
hundreds of MB in size then go edit it.

PowerSDR has provides to methods of recording. One is to use the REC PLAY
buttons on the radio graphics. It will record and playback the frequency you
are recording. There is a Wave tab where one can record audio or IQ. IQ allows
one to play back the spectrum monitored. It works very well.

Its easy to switch transverters from PSDR via DDUtil and a LPT-port. If
such a port is not available, switching can be done via the Flexwire ports
I2C bus. K3TUF makes an interface: http://www.k3tuf.com/FW.html. I use both
solutions to switch transverters via a homebrew switchbox based on two
