Does any version of Android support VNC or similar windows remote access?
If not, someone will either have to develop something like it. Same applies
to SKYPE for audio. That's probably available, or some other VOIP that
works on both Android and Windows. Instead of VNC I've been thinking of

Hi, Neal
I took your advice and ordered the ASROCK board you recommended.
Great board, but out of the box with Windows XP 64 bit, my latency, as
measured by the Flex Radio latency utility, is usually between 65 and 120.
Haven't done anything other than load Flex ver 2.0.19 RC1. No problem
I went from XP to Win 7 64 bit with no problems other than getting the
signed drivers for VAC and vspMgr. A quick e-mail to the respective
developers solved that issue. It is possible to run Win7 in the development
(?) mode with unsigned drivers. I have a Dell XPS9100 that does nicely with

I bought the Shuttlepro - don't like it (I now like the Logitech mouse with
free wheeling wheel). The shuttlepro knob is not freewheeling - doesn't
feel like a real knob. I suspect the Griffin knob would be better.

There is an 'install.txt' file for the executable. Right now its working

Hi, Folks
Carl's (N4PY) controller software with its ability to marry
up Flex Radios with the Orion 2 to allow the use of the Flex as a 2nd

small utility that does just that - without all the control capability

I've just run into a problem with CW keying of my Flex 5k. Been using it on
CW for the past year with CWTYPE as the keyer, and VSPManager. I've
previously tested it at speeds of 45 WPM and it never dropped a dit. Now,
all of sudden it seems, its dropping the first dit (or chopping the first

I just downloaded DDUTIL and will be playing with it in the next few days.
My logging program uses both the CAT port for the SDR and the Orion II.
Carl's program handles the conflict well with the logging program by using
the Pegasus data exchange file as the logging interface. It's not so easy

As a happy owner of the Flex 5K and an Orion II, I've often wished there was
some way I could enjoy the advantages of both radios simultaneously. There
are times when I prefer using the Orion II (and I won't go into that - its
purely subjective) but really miss the panadapter of the Flex and the p
I bought a Pyle Pro PT2 from Amazon new for abt $50 - works great with the
Flex 5K, a pair of Sony Speakers. Now I have a real volume control knob.

CW is my primary mode, rag chewing between 20 - 25wpm. QSK works
fine with my 5K, even with delay set to 50ms. I don't normally run it this
way, because I don't like to hear the relays chattering in my Titan III.
Normally set it at 200ms. I don't use the internal keyer, intern

Hi, Mark
I use my Flex 5KA daily on CW. Seems to work fine. However, I use
CWTYPE, a small keyboard program that keys a serial port handshake line.
Since I use com0com, all this is internal so no external wires. I've had
nothing but good comments on CW by everyone I talk to. Have never

Some have been interested in trying to get a 40 Meter net going, and

that first. I know of a net
I went on AMAZON and got a great little 40 watt stereo amp with 3 inputs on
back (RCA), a stereo headphone jack on the front, and volume, mic gain,
balance, base and treble controls for about $40. Exactly what I needed.
Now I have the only knob I missed - the volume control. Manufacturer is

I've had good luck with RV deep discharge 12 volt batteries from WalMart. I

Worked great. Left them continuously on a charger that normally supplied
about 1 amp of charging. Worked great, and the battery was good for 5 ye

Has any one experienced an increased in output power for no apparent reason
with their Flex 5000A. I've got a new one (2 weeks old) that after about 2
hours of operation - not necessarily transmitting - just leaving the Flex
on, the output power goes up. For instance, in the TUN mode, with tuning
